Name-Based Ferry County Case Searches
Name searches work in both Washington JIS and Odyssey, but the court choice comes first. Use JIS for Ferry County District Court matters. Use Odyssey for the richer Ferry County Superior Court case-information path. JIS requires first and last name for its name search. Odyssey uses a last, first, middle, suffix convention and is not case-sensitive. Common names need a location, case type, filing range, or other filter.
- Read the court name on the notice, citation, or filing before opening a search portal.
- Choose Ferry County District Court in JIS or the Ferry Superior location in Odyssey.
- Enter last and first name as used in the court record. Add the optional middle name when it helps distinguish results.
- Limit the search by case type, filing year, location, or date range. Compare party roles and file dates before opening a match.
- Open the matching case, review its docket events, and contact the custodian if a result or document appears incomplete.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |

| Court Name | Dropdown | Yes in JIS | Select Ferry County District Court or Ferry County Superior Court. |
| Case Type | Dropdown | After level | Options vary between limited-jurisdiction and Superior cases. |
| Year or Date Range | Date control | No | Narrows results; the JIS year selector reaches back to 1975. |
Choose Ferry Superior or District
The most common search error is choosing the wrong court. Ferry County Superior Court holds felony, major civil, domestic, probate, guardianship, adoption, dependency, juvenile, and mental-health matters. Ferry County District Court holds misdemeanors, traffic matters, infractions, probable-cause hearings, limited civil cases, and small claims. Republic contracts with Ferry County for municipal-court service, so a city citation may still route through the county-serviced court.
Fast choice: Use Odyssey for Superior case information and JIS for District Court searching. When paperwork and portal results disagree, call the named court.
The County Clerk can confirm Superior matters at (509) 775-5225 ext. 2505. District Court can confirm limited-jurisdiction cases at ext. 2504. Both counters are in the courthouse at 350 E Delaware Ave., Republic.
Ferry County Case Number Searches
Copy the full case number exactly from the citation, notice, order, or clerk receipt. Ferry County does not publish a local case-number format guide in the reviewed sources, so no year prefix or case-type code should be guessed. Treat the number on the court paper as the authoritative complete case number. JIS provides a case-number search type, while Odyssey labels the field Record Number or Case Number.
Odyssey's official guide says a number search may start with at least four characters, but that is only a portal search minimum. It is not a Ferry numbering rule. A complete number normally produces a cleaner result than a partial number or common name. If it returns nothing, recheck punctuation, court location, and whether the case belongs in JIS instead.
JIS Search Field by Field
The Washington JIS Case Search begins with Court Level and Search Type. Select District and Municipal Courts for Ferry District matters, then choose Ferry County District Court. Search types include name, case number, and business name. Case categories include civil, criminal, traffic, non-traffic infraction, probable cause, and small claim.
The official interface shows those controls directly:
The screenshot helps identify the correct dropdown order. JIS says data is generally updated within about 24 hours and warns that status, docket, judgment, or document links can be incomplete. Use the District Court for the complete current record.
Ferry County Case Search Results Explained
A public result is an index into a court case, not always the full file. Odyssey can expose case information, parties, disposition events, events, hearings, and a chronological Register of Actions. JIS may provide a briefer result and expressly warns about incomplete links. Read the court and case type before interpreting status or an isolated event.
| Case Number | The unique identifier copied from the court record. |
|---|---|
| Style / Parties | The formal caption and public party roles. |
| Case Type | The portal category, such as criminal, civil, domestic, probate, infraction, or small claim. |
| Filed Date | The date the case began or was filed with the clerk. |
| Status | A current portal label that may require confirmation if events or documents lag. |
| Events and Hearings | Dated filings, orders, settings, and disposition entries when publicly displayed. |
Odyssey's Ferry Search Limits
Odyssey Smart Search supports case numbers, party names, business names, attorney criteria, judicial officers, case types, status, location, and filing dates. Its guide says only the first 200 results display. A broad common-name search can therefore hide the useful match beyond the returned set.
Wildcard searching and Sounds Like can help, but the guide says they cannot be combined. Hyphenated names are searched without punctuation. The usual form is last name, comma or space, then first name. The portal interface shows the number/name entry and advanced filters:
The captured dashboard illustrates why court location and filing range matter. Narrowing early is more reliable than paging through an overly broad result set.
Two Searches: Ferry County and State
Washington's public access is statewide in reach but still divided by court platform and local custody. JIS is the practical public path for Ferry District Court. Odyssey supplies participating Superior Court case information, including Ferry Superior. The county offices remain the authoritative sources for complete files, document availability, certification, and current status.
| Statewide Portal | Ferry County Custodian |
|---|---|
| JIS covers District, municipal, Superior, and appellate search choices. | Ferry offices confirm the court that actually holds the matter. |
| Odyssey supplies participating Superior Court case information and event detail. | The clerk determines complete-file and document access. |
| Best for a public index search by name, number, business, or court. | Best when a result is missing, stale, restricted, or needed as a certified copy. |
Missing Ferry County Document Links
A visible docket event does not guarantee that its filed image can be opened. Odyssey allows anonymous case information, but document access depends on Ferry County's document configuration, the user's role, and any record restriction. JIS also warns that some document, judgment, and docket links may fail or be incomplete.
When a link is missing, record the court, case number, event date, and document description. Ask the County Clerk for a Superior filing or District Court for a limited-jurisdiction filing. Inspection at the counter is another documented channel. Mail or email requests should follow only after confirming copy type, cost, payment, and delivery terms.
County GovQA handles county administrative records. It should not be assumed to replace the judicial clerk's process for a case file.
Ferry Courthouse Search Fallback
Online search is only the first access channel. A person can visit the County Clerk in Ste. 4 for Superior Court records or District Court in Ste. 6 for limited-jurisdiction cases. Free courthouse viewing is governed by GR 31, while copies and certification can carry fees. Bring the court name, full case number if known, party names, and the event or date being researched.
Remote requests are also possible. Call the County Clerk at (509) 775-5225 ext. 2505 or District Court at ext. 2504 before mailing or emailing a request. Ask whether the desired item is a docket printout, filed document, plain copy, certified copy, or transcript. Those are different products. Confirm the charge, payment form, postage, and delivery method before sending funds.
Older matters need special care. Although the JIS year selector reaches back to 1975, the public interface does not promise that every old case or document image is online. Ask the Ferry County custodian about a manual index, archived file, bound volume, or other legacy format.
Which Ferry County Cases Stay Restricted
Washington GR 31 governs court-record access. GR 22 adds privacy rules for family law, protection orders, guardianship, and therapeutic-court records. Juvenile offender records are not displayed on the public statewide index, and sealed or protected matters may be absent, truncated, or shown without documents. A blank result is not proof that a case or filing never existed.
Contact the clerk rather than trying to bypass a restriction. Provide the court, case number, and requested event or document. The clerk can explain whether GR 31, GR 22, a sealing order, redaction, or another process controls access. Free courthouse viewing and fee-bearing copies are distinct services.
Public index limit: A Ferry County docket search is not a complete criminal-history report. Verify the specific court record with its originating clerk.
